Chris is head of the Argumentation Research Group and has worked in the fertile area lying between argumentation and AI for over a decade. He continues to strive to bring the two communities together through activities such as the CMNA workshop series (that has alternated between IJCAI and ECAI since 2001), the ArgMAS workshop series at AAMAS meetings since 2003, and various other journal special issues and ad hoc events. He is active in the fields of both AI and philosophy of argument, has published over 80 refereed papers, and is editor of the journal Argument and Computation. He is also active in commercialisation of research through a spin out company, Calico Jack of which he is an executive director.
Floris is a post-doctoral research assistant, working on the Dialectical Argumentation Machines project.
Katarzyna is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Philosophy at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. She is visiting the ARG:dundee group from October 2009 until September 2010.
Joseph is a PhD student exploring computational properties of argumentation protocols.
John is a postgraduate research assistant working on the Dialectical Argumentation Machines project.
Phil is a part-time PhD student exploring argumentation in medical statistical reasoning. He is based at Ninewells Hospital.
Mark started his PhD in the group in 2009.
Simon is a post-doctoral research fellow in the School of Computing. His Ph.D research investigated the applications of formal dialectical games in multiagent systems. His interests include argumentation theory, multi-agent systems, artificial intelligence, security, and ludic theory. A common thread through his research is the idea of complex systems, how they can be represented, constructed and deployed, and most importantly how such systems fail.
